Our client is a Swiss Bank, seeking a highly analytical and motivated Manager Selection Analyst to join the investment team, with a primary focus on third-party equity fund manager research and selection. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and monitoring external equity fund managers across global and regional strategies, supporting the construction of high-conviction multi-manager portfolios for our clients.
Job Description:
- Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis of third-party equity fund managers, including investment process, philosophy, portfolio construction, risk management, and performance.
- Lead or support due diligence meetings with fund managers and document findings in detailed research reports.
- Contribute to the selection and approval of equity fund managers for inclusion in approved lists or discretionary portfolios.
- Monitor existing fund managers’ performance, style drift, risk characteristics, and adherence to stated objectives.
- Maintain close relationships with fund management firms and stay informed of key developments and personnel changes.
- Analyze performance attribution, factor exposures, and risk-adjusted returns using industry-standard tools (e.g., Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, eVestment, Style Research).
- Support the development and enhancement of the manager research framework and scoring methodologies.
- Work closely with portfolio management, asset allocation, and ESG teams to ensure alignment between manager selection and overall investment strategy.
- Prepare investment recommendations and presentations for the Manager Selection Committee and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to thought leadership on market trends, fund management best practices, and thematic opportunities within equity markets.
- Act as Back Up for other sectors (Fixed Income, Alternatives).
Required Profile:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; CFA designation or progress toward CFA preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in manager research, fund selection, or equity analysis, ideally within a private bank, asset manager, or institutional investor, OR, as an Equity Fund Manager.
- Strong understanding of global equity markets, investment styles and fund structures.
- Proficiency in financial data and analytics tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English, with the ability to present complex findings clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical rigor, and a genuine passion for investment research and financial markets.
